Another link-up

Here I am again with another link-up.  Someday I will blog everyday...right?!?  Who knows, until then I will answer questions I come across!

button

1. I laughed so hard I cried when...my mom was asking about "RJ Kelly, and why his sheets smell like piss" - meaning R Kelly and the lyrics from Thrift Store.  She just kept on asking...until I could breathe and explain.  "But WHO is RJ Kelly?!?!"  Love her!

2. My high school...was pretty low-key, and not too diverse, even though the kids from the country schools called our school the city school.  RIGHT!  Get outta town, explore the world!

3. It really pisses me off...when people don't take a hint.  Just sayin'!

4. In ten years...I BETTER have some kids.  Whether I birth them, adopt them, steal them...whatever it takes.

5. If I could erase one thing...it would probably be a certain relationship, with a not so nice person, many moons ago.  Oh well, live and learn.

6. In 1999...I was having a good time, pretty carefree, and loving life.  I had bangs that always had to have the perfect curl, highlights, and spent my weekends cruisin' uptown.  Life was good!

7. Honestly...can I just go back to Hawaii?!

8. To me, Sushi...is delicious, especially if it involves eel or lobster.  And, I am not talking tempura stuff.  You can also leave the cream cheese out of mine...JFarns will eat that!  Nick took me to a really nice sushi place on Saturday, and their house dressing was pretty top notch.

9. Someone really needs to invent...a teleporting device.  The car ride to Ohio and Indiana is a bit too long for me these days.  Worth it, but so long, and boring!

10. The first time I drank alcohol...I was probably 18, but I really don't remember a story about it.  I've never been really drunk.  I have issues with not being in control, and well, alcohol can cause loss of control...so, not cool in my books!

11. The one question I would ask God is...what if you were on of us?  Just a stranger on the bus...

12. Lindsay Lohan...has 4 years left.  Max.  Sorry Li-Lo.

Be well and enjoy your weekend!

Finish the Sentence

button

I am linking up with Holly and Jake for their "Finish the Sentence Link-Up". This is just the thing I needed to have something to post about...because as you can tell, I haven't had much to share lately.  Actually, I just haven't shared much is more like it.  Anyhow, without further adieu...

1. If calories didn't count, I would eat...Cadbury eggs and my mom's homemade Ho-Ho cake as dessert every night, after consuming mass amounts of Mexican food!

2. On my Prom night.... I could be found "uptown" doing the cruising thing with my BFF Ashley, and the rest of the kids that were TOO COOL for prom!  I don't regret skipping my proms, I am sure we had WAY more fun.

3. When I go to the store, I always buy...a random drink that I want to try.  I have a thing for new, different drinks.  (And, they are usually on sale or give me a register reward that makes them free!)

4. Family functions typically...revolve around my new niece Hattie, and her cuteness.  With the exception of 2012/2013 Christmas/New Year's when we all shared the flu, toilets, barf buckets, etc.  We like to have a lot of fun, a lot of laughs, and wait to see who will throw a fit at family game night.  It's usually my sister, but I've been known to throw all the Uno cards in a fit of rage.  I miss the days of the huge family gatherings at Grammy and Gramps, but time marches on...and Grammy can't exactly host at the assisted living facility.  :(

5. I think my blog readers...are non-existent.  I need more.  I should probably blog more.  Wahwah!

6. I'd much rather be...somewhere warm and refreshing right now.  Don't get me wrong, I love winter, but it's spring now.  Thank you!

7. I have an obsession with....hoodies, wearing comfy clothes, hot sauce, reading blogs, and buying Hattie too much stuff.

8. My work friends....miss me, A LOT!  It's weird working from home and not getting to interact with them all the time.  Luckily we stay connected via email, FB, phone, texts, etc.  They're all in Ohio, and there's me...running the NY office...out of my dining room!

9. When I created my Facebook account....it was only for college kids, and was pretty low-key.  I much preferred my "myspace" b/c I could personalize it, and add all kinds of fun crap.

10. My least favorite word is...actually a small list of them::  obvi, totes, legit (unless we're talking Hammer!), amaze-balls (Really?!), moist, cuddle, panties, the over-used "like"...

11. I really don't remember...how many _____ are in a ______.  How many cups are in a pint?  2, but that one is easy...I seriously struggle with that crap!  I have a magnet on the fridge that helps me, AND a calculator in the kitchen drawer.  I like to think that I have a mind like a steel trap, so I try not to forget things.  And yes, I WILL use that against you!

12. Justin Bieber....I am on the fence about you.  You're a sweet, little thing that is growing up (physically and musically) and aiming your music at the soccer moms (bye-bye teen girls), and they're swooning...  But, pull up your pants, get some muscles on that little body, and leave the falsetto to JTimberlake!

That's all for today...

Time for a Round-Up

Wow, it's already past the middle of February?!  Where is time going so quickly?

I have been staying busy with projects for work, and pretending that I am some kind of IT support for them.  Of course, that boils down to the fact that I am cheaper than the computer guy that comes in as needed. and takes care of the servers, so it only makes sense to ask me if I can "fix" it first!  I am 200+ miles away, but a phone call, and my hourly wages are way cheaper, if I can figure it out for my gal-pals!  I get it...most everyone loves a bargain these days.  (SIDE NOTE:::  A few days ago an older lady at the grocery saw me with my coupons, and she had hers, and said, "Isn't it a shame we have to use these and chase deals?"  I just smiled and said, "Yes." But the thing is I enjoy it, and don't take it to the extreme.  Sorry, Grams!)

So, let's see what I found on the big, old www that struck my fancy here lately, shall we?
Great!  Let's begin!

What I Love:

What I Want:

What I Bought:

What I Want to Eat:

(If only I didn't give up chocolate for Lent, and Nick wasn't rocking a Paleo challenge!)

What's on your weekly round-up?

Influenster Holiday VoxBox 2012

In December I got an email saying that I'd be receiving the Holida VoxBox from Influenster, and was pretty pumped to see what would be inside!

I was so excited to try out all of the goodies they sent me, because I loved the first box I got filled with Palmolive Infusions a few months prior.  Of course, it arrived when Nick and I were on our holiday travels to see our friends and family, so I had to wait awhile to bust into that bad boy.  I did have our mail held, and should have taken a picture of ALL the packages, freebies, and other mail we had after 2 weeks of being away, during the holiday season.  (Luckily all our gifts made it before we left!)

So this is what was in my VoxBox:

Goody QuickStyle Brush with absorbent microfiber bristles.  It's like a hairbrush with some sham-wow bristles in it.  I was not impressed with the quality of the plastic on this brush, but it did do an okay job at drying my hair faster.  Besides the plastic, I also didn't think it brushed through my hair the whole way because of the microfiber bristles.  I brushed over my hair with my regular brush to ensure that I didn't have any tangles, or unbrushed spots.

NYC New York Color Liquid Lipshine called Nude York City, and it really is a nice nude color. I am not one that typically wears a lip color, so keeping it simple is best for me.  I tend to keep it real with a plain lipgloss, but this was a nice change. It wasn't clumpy or sticky either, which was wonderful!!

Kiss Nail Dress, in the cheetah print, I think it is called Sexy.  I've been wanting to try these for awhile now but wasn't sure if they were worth the money, and if they would stay on my nails.  I just need to get around to putting them on, when I know I won't be doing anything of importance, like a job interview, because they are a bit much for my style.

Quaker Real Medleys Oatmeal, which I KNEW I wouldn't be eating, as I don't like oatmeal.  I mailed it to my sister though, and she enjoyed it.  I did like that it was a whole grain version, had pistachios and dried cherries, and Quaker has a variety of flavors.  If only I liked oatmeal!  I've tried it all different ways, and all different flavors, but just can't eat get myself to eat it.  It's a texture thing, for sure!

EBoost Pink Lemonade, which was a powdered mix that was a boost of energy powder that got mixed with water.  It had artificial sweeteners in it, so I didn't drink much of it, nor did I get an energy boost.  But, some of you might like it!!  They do have a big variety of flavors on their site!

I also received a voucher, from Sole Society, that got me and anyone I shared the code with $25 off our first pair of shoes.  It's an online shoe site, with a lot of variety, especially if you like to wear heels!  I couldn't find any shoes I wanted to buy, but it was a good deal, and I am sure a LOT of people enjoyed such a large discount!

That's all for now!  I hope you sign up and enjoy Influenster as much as I do!  I love trying new products to see if I really like them before I go out and buy them.  And Influenster always has great products to try, and they compensate their members so well!!

Disclosure: As a member of Influenster, occasionally I am sent products complimentary for testing purposes from Influenster. As always, all opinions on the products I received are my own.

Windy Wednesday

So, it's another windy night in Rochester, and they say MAYBE I will even get some more snow.  I know I am crazy for wanting snow, but if it's this cold, Old Man Winter better make it worth it.  I guess I say that because I don't have to shovel, or scrape my car to go to work, and if I do have to leave, I have my car starter.  But really, I do love snow, and winter because I'm a January Snow Baby!
(I will say that Maui also sounds good about now...so there's that!)

This weekend Nick went to the farm, and I decided to start watching GLEE on Netflix.  Now, I think I am hooked.  I have gotten through the entire first season, and am just getting into season 2.  My favorites are Sue, Mr. Schuester, and Puck.  I love Sue's sense of humor, Mr Schue's overall personality and look, and Puck for being the bad boy.  I also love the singing, and shows, even if some of the high school antics are annoying.  I know I am WAYYYY behind on the Glee train, but I much prefer watching it all at once, as I can.

A bunch of firsts

So, I am following Krystal's lead and talking about "Firsts"

First thing you do when you wake up in the morning:
Go to the bathroom

First thing you reach for when you open the fridge:
Lemon Seltzer Water

First things you do when you get to the gym:
If I went to the gym I would check-in...

First thing you do when you get home from work:
Check the mail

First car:
1989 Ford Thunderbird

First accident/traffic violation:
My first real accident was in 2004, when I totaled my Camry and wrecked my right leg.
My first traffic violation was for a rolling stop and a seat-belt warning, when I pulled out of the grocery store parking lot in 2000 or so.  Of course, I was HIGH-RISK because of all my speeding tickets, by 2002.  Ooops!

First thing you wanted to be when you grew up:
Teacher, babysitter, Mom

First choice beverage:
Fresh-squeezed lemonade, but Simply Lemonade will do

First choice breakfast:
Chocolate-chip pancakes and fresh fruit

First choice dessert:
Cheesecake from The Cheesecake Factory

First song that comes to mind:
"I Knew You Were Trouble" Darn you, T-Swift!

First major purchase:
My camcorder, when I got my first real job, followed by my Camry

First job:
I babysat the neighbor kids until I got a job sewing, trimming, and bundling Vera Bradley purses and bags.  This was back when it was old school, and popular with the older, female crowd.  It was NOT trendy, cute, fun stuff like it is today.  And go figure, I had a 60% discount back in the day.

First time you flew on a plane:
I flew to Florida, with some friends from my Vera Bradley gig, in December of 1998.

It's a New Year

Out with 2012, and onto 2013!  I guarantee I won't forget 2012, especially as I continue to write it for a few more weeks.  We didn't celebrate in a very momentous way, AT ALL.  My family was attempting to rid ourselves of the norovirus, and anything left in our bodies, so we all stayed in - cozied on couches and beds.  I did wake up around 11:58 to ring in the New Year, so that's something!!

Today's my birthday, and we're all finally feeling better.  I can't miss out on my mom's homemade Ho-Ho Cake, so I was destined to be better today!  We'll probably go out for a light dinner too, if we're up to it.

I mentioned before that I want to be a better blogger in 2013, so I hope this is a start.  I will consider that one of my resolutions, along with a few others.  I typically don't like declaring that I'm going to do stuff only to fall short, but I am sure I can change my ways on a few things in my life!  So, let's just lay them out here, shall we?!

  1. Be a better blogger
  2. Exercise more, move more, sweat more
  3. Get a teaching job!
  4. Read more books
  5. Get some real bedroom furniture
  6. Learn something "crafty"
  7. Share the kitchen
  8. Be more supportive of Nick's Paleo & Crossfit
  9. Send more "snail mail" to people
  10. Just be a nicer person!
I could probably make a bigger list, but 10 to start sounds great to me!

Now, excuse me while I find my party hat, and get myself out of pj's.  Let's party!
